MasterCard SecureCode provides an additional layer of security to authenticate online transactions through the use of a One-Time-Password (OTP)* and protect card information at participating online merchants.
* OTP is a temporary password that confirms identity of cardholder and is valid for five (5) minutes and for single use only.
When the cardholder enters the correct One-Time-Password (OTP) during a purchase at a participating online merchant, the OTP confirms his/her identity and the purchase is then authorized and completed.
If an incorrect OTP is entered, the transaction will not be completed. The maximum number of attempts allowed to enter the correct password is three (3). This protects the cardholder from any unauthorized transactions on his/her card. Even if someone knows the card details, the transaction cannot be completed without cardholder’s OTP.
All AUB Credit Cards is already pre-enrolled in MasterCard SecureCode.
Most participating merchants will display the “MasterCard® SecureCode™” logo on their website. However, if the merchant is not a participant, the cardholder will still be able to transact but without using this service.
The OTP will be delivered real-time via SMS to cardholder’s registered mobile number with AUB.
To receive a One-Time-Password (OTP) via SMS overseas, cardholder’s registered mobile number must be enrolled to a roaming facility and should be activated (SMS roaming charge is subject to your assigned Telco).
There is no fee for generating a One-Time-Password (OTP) nationwide. For overseas cardholders who are enrolled to a roaming facility, the SMS roaming charge is subject to your assigned Telco.
The OTP will not be received. Cardholder should request to update his/her mobile number via AUB Credit Cards Customer Service (8-282-8888). Changes will take effect the next day.
In case the cardholder is unable to authenticate himself and exhausts the maximum allowable attempts, the card will be blocked for the MasterCard SecureCode Service.
To unblock the AUB Credit Card, cardholder may call AUB Credit Cards Customer Service (8-282-8888).
Cardholder may request to resend the OTP by clicking the option “Resend One-Time-Password” on the MasterCard SecureCode screen.
The OTP will never be revealed to the online merchant as all authentication is done by MasterCard and AUB. Once verified, only an authorization code/message will be sent back to the merchant.
